Point, Click, Communicate

Whether it’s cell phones or computers, technology helps link us together.

More and more seniors are crossing the digital divide, using computers to stay in touch and to stay informed. For example, one third of Wyndemere’s residents either use or own a computer. In fact, WyndemereSeniorLiving.com, is the No. 1 way that potential residents learn more about the benefits the Campus has to offer.

And next generation seniors rely even more on the Internet. Wyndemere is taking an active step to ensure that the residents of The Wyndemere Senior Living Campus have access to the information they need. For example, e-mail accounts are being set up for residents to use, if they don’t have their own computers.

“ We’re also planning to ask several of our residents to act as ‘counselors’,
helping fellow residents access these easy-to-use e-mail accounts,” said Karen Thomas, Resident Services Coordinator.

Karen is also helping residents explore other technology as well. “A number of residents come in with quite a number of family photos,” she explained.
“ We’re looking into whether the College of DuPage Older Adult Institute can assist our residents in making a CD-Rom of their family photos for their children and grandchildren.”

Whether it’s using the Internet or burning a CD, technology can help both
today’s and tomorrow’s seniors stay informed and in touch.
