The delights of dancing The sounds of Y-M-C-A make you want to dance, whether you're 9 or 90! At Wynscape, helping residents to get up and move can have some important health benefits as well. "We have initiated twice-a-day dance exercise programs to promote better circulation," said Laurel Dittebenner, Director of Nursing at Wynscape. "Helping residents to change positions to a weight-bearing one is key to preventing circulatory issues. But, there are definite social benefits as well. Staff and residents join in together and laughter, along with music, from YMCA to Achy Breaky Heart, can be heard from the dining room." The residents aren't the only ones to enjoy the activity. "Everyone loves dancing together, both staff and residents," said Billy Roberts, a 17-year certified nursing assistant at Wynscape. "The music gets everyone going and it's a blast!" | |||
