First Senior Living Community to Offer TeleHealth
Wyndemere residents now have the opportunity to keep a close eye on their health, all without leaving the Campus, through TeleHealth. This onsite equipment measures blood pressure, weight and pulse oxygen levels and sends the results to a cardiac nurse specialist at Central DuPage Hospital (CDH).
“We are the first senior living community in the area to offer TeleHealth,” said Peggi Semmens, Wyndemere’s Health Resource Manager. “The cardiac nurse at CDH is able to monitor any changes in a resident’s vital signs and if there are any red flags, the nurse discusses them with the resident and the physician to see if medication changes are necessary.”
The equipment is centrally located and easily accessible so residents can use it as often as they like, seven days a week. In addition, a cardiac nurse comes to Wyndemere once a week to discuss results with residents.
“I really appreciate the convenience of TeleHealth,” said Wyndemere Resident Isabel Bartel, who uses the equipment at least three times a week. “The nurse follow-up has been very consistent and helpful.”
Wyndemere Resident Wes Rose uses the equipment every day and for him, TeleHealth’s onsite monitoring is a real asset. “It’s great to keep track of key health measurements, like blood pressure and your weight, without having to leave the building,” Wes said.
TeleHealth is truly a preventive measure for residents with chronic health conditions…and another “first” that sets Wyndemere apart.
